Last week, Road & Track published a handful of spy shots that revealed the changes Land Rover had made to the exterior of the DC100 concept. These changes were driven by consumer and enthusiast feedback that wished to see a DC100 that was more compatible with the Defender's heritage. Now, Land Rover has released photos ahead of the official North American debut of the DC100 and DC100 Sport concepts at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show on November 16th.
New images of the DC100 concept have been released that reveal a Fuji White paint job and a more reasonable set of wheels. These new images reveal not only the Fuji White paint topped by a Santorini Black roof — which looks much better than the silver we have been seeing — but also 20-inch alloy wheels with Cooper all-terrain tires. The new DC100 images were released in conjunction with the DC100's Middle Eastern debut at the 2011 Dubai International Motor Show.
Much to the delight of Defender-lovers everywhere, Land Rover recently announced that the long-wheelbase Defenders — the 110 and 130 — would live on for at least a few years past the DC100's introduction in 2015. Now, it has also been revealed that Land Rover intends to show a revised or reworked version of the DC100 concept at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. The show will be held between November 18th and the 27th.
Our stance on the DC100 concepts has been rather neutral. This is mostly due to the fact that we are not sure we would have pegged the DC100 as a Defender replacement by appearance alone. The bottom line is that we have been quick to point out the criticism the concept has faced, but have talked little about why the DC100 makes sense for Land Rover, until now.
You may have noticed that the very Evoque-like vehicle in the introductory photo isn't an Evoque at all. It's actually the Land Rover LRX concept. We've mentioned in the past that the all-new 2012 Range Rover Evoque was derived from the LRX concept vehicle, but we've never taken a closer look at the LRX itself.
