Slated to arrive at dealers this fall, the all-new Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has been the star of the show for the past year. Finally, Land Rover has provided two of the most important details: price and fuel economy. The five-door Evoque will start at just under $44,000.00, with the Coupe bumping the entry fee to just under $45,000.00. Those price points put the Evoque between the LR2 and the LR4, introducing the Range Rover brand to a fresh audience.
Here is an inspirational video for a sweltering Sunday afternoon (the thermometer registered 118°F in the sun today). While the video inspires a profound sense of pride in being part of the Land Rover owner family, it does leave us wishing our office walls weren't quite so close in, if you know what we mean. On a side note, we were intrigued by the six thousand nine hundred languages bit. Actually, according to Ethnologue, there are 6,909 known living languages.
Aside from the current Land Rover LR4, there is nothing quite like the LR3 on the road. Uniquely styled and equipped, the LR3 combines utility, luxury, heritage, and capability into a package which is becoming quite affordable as time goes on. Arguably, the LR3 is in its prime as far as used vehicles go. It is almost identically styled to the current model, low-mileage examples are plentiful, and aftermarket support is very robust. Do you remember when the Discovery Channel was more about expeditions and nature and not trumped-up drama? Well-fitted trucks like this Series III 109 were crawling all over the place, taking photographers and naturalists around the globe. Nostalgia aside, this 1973 Land Rover Series III 109 falls into the "if we won the lottery tonight we know what we would be doing this weekend" category. It doesn't look like it would take much to touch up this 109.
The 2011 Land Rover LR4 has been awarded a first place finish in Strategic Vision Inc.'s (SVI) Total Quality Index® (TQI). The LR4 took top honors in the near-luxury SUV category, while the Jaguar XJ received the highest score (929 points) in the luxury car segment. The TQI is a measurement of the complete ownership experience where buyers are asked to rate their buying, owning, and driving experience.
