The finalists for the 2012 World Car Awards have been announced and the new 2012 Range Rover Evoque is on the list. The World Car of the Year segment recognizes vehicles that are of worldwide significance. Competitors include the BMW 1 Series, Audi A6, and the Chevrolet Volt, among others. The overall winner will be announced at the New York International Auto Show on Thursday, April 5th, 2012.

The 2012 Jaguar XJ took home the "Best Luxury Sedan" award and the "Best Big Utility" nod went to the 2012 Land Rover LR4. This is the first win for the Land Rover LR4 and the second for the Jaguar XJ.

So, it was with no small amount of interest that CR announced that the BMW X3 trounced the Range Rover Evoque Pure in the publication's road tests.
