DC100 Sport Concept Gallery

The Land Rover  DC100 Sport is one of a pair of concepts unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show this morning. The Land Rover DC100 and DC100 Sport are ostensibly replacements for the Land Rover Defender, but Land Rover has stated the concepts are not production-ready vehicles. Rather, they are designed to spur discussion about what should and should not be included on the final production version.

As such, the DC100 Sport is loaded with technology that assists both on and off-road. It’s highly unlikely that the more fanciful features such as the inflatable tire spikes and the all-in-one removable display will make production. However, the DC100 Sport is showcasing some very interesting off-road technologies that could find themselves in the next generation of Land Rover’s Terrain Response® system.

DC100 Sport Highlights:

  • Three-across front seating or “social seating” arrangement.
  • Sustainable construction inspired by the aviation and nautical industries.
  • Terrain-i scanning assists the driver with off-road routes.
  • A sonar-based Wade Aid system that assesses water depth.
  • Next-generation Land Rover Terrain Response®.
  • Self-cleaning and self-healing paint and bodywork technologies.
  • Eight-speed automatic transmission.
  • 2.0-liter hybrid-capable gasoline and diesel engine options.
  • Physical driveline disconnect increases efficiency and fuel economy.
  • RFID key technology.
