2012 Land Rover Range Rover

Details on changes to the 2012 Range Rover have been released. While this information pertains to UK-spec models, it allows us a preliminary look at what new features and changes we can anticipate here in the U.S. market. The main differentiators between UK and U.S. models are trim names (the Vogue trims are essentially analogous to our HSE), specific trim options, and of course, the diesel engine, which we once again do not have available. Additional 2012 Range Rover photos can be seen in our 2012 Land Rover Range Rover gallery.

Exterior and Trim Updates

Color Changes

Head and tail lamp back plates are now gloss black with the front grill surround being finished in Narvik Black. This is a relatively minor update over the 2011 model year.

Door handles and side vents are now body color for better aesthetic integration. These replace the black handles and side vents found on the 2011 model.

The Grand Black wood veneer now has ‘Range Rover’ inlays. Autobiography trim veneers are available in Prussian Blue Burr Maple, Anthracite Lined Oak, or Ash Burl.

New Wheels

There are new 20-inch 10 V-spoke alloy wheels finished in silver with Range Rover center caps. These wheels are featured in the photos that were released along with the updates.

New Vogue Trim Packages (UK Trims)

The Vogue trim now offers unique tailgate badging and the choice of either the Vogue Silver Pack or the Vogue Black Pack. Both packages include a 1200W harman/kardon® LOGIC7® audio system, heated and cooled seats, and an 8-inch Dual View infotainment screen. The Dual View screen allows the driver and the passenger to view different media on a single screen at the same time. The driver can view the navigation display while the passenger views a video, for example.

The Vogue Silver Pack offers a Supercharged Design Pack, which includes a bright finish for the front grill and side vents. The Vogue Black Pack features the Exterior Design Pack, which includes a revised front bumper with fog lamp surrounds, front grill in Titan finish, side vents in Titan finish, revised side sill, rear bumper finisher, and stainless steel exhaust finishers.

New Autobiography Packages

The Autobiography trim has three new option packages, including the Prestige, Dynamic, and Technology. These option packages can be ordered individually or in combination. The trim names certainly hint at things to come in 2013, when the new Range Rover will take on aspects of the Evoque.

The Prestige Package includes access to an extended range of Autobiography colors, Grand Black veneer, and reclining rear seats. The Dynamic Package includes the Exterior Design Pack mentioned above with the addition of 20-inch “Shadow Chrome” alloy wheels. The Technology Package includes Vision Assist, four-zone air conditioning, 1200W harman/kardon LOGIC7 audio system, and a rear seat entertainment system.

Engines Remain Unchanged for 2012

Diesel V8 Engine – The 4.4-liter LR-TDV8 diesel engine is the only diesel offered with the UK-spec Range Rover. This engine produces 313-horsepower at 4,000 RPM and 516 lb.-ft. or torque between 1,500 and 3,000 RPM. Combined fuel consumption comes in at 30.1 MPG. The diesel engine is backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission. CO2 emissions are 253g/km.

Gasoline V8 Engines – The 5.0-liter LR-V8 delivers 375-horsepower at 6,500 RPM and 375 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,500 RPM. Zero-to-60 MPH comes in just 7.2 seconds. The 5.0-liter Supercharged LR-V8 offers 510-horsepower between 6,000 and 6,500 RPM and 460 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,500 to 5,500 RPM. The Supercharged manages zero-to-60 MPH in just 5.9 seconds.

All Range Rover engines conform to EU5 emissions regulations.
