2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque

A year or two from now, Merriam-Webster will have to add a new definition to the dictionary – Evoque (\i-ˈvōk\) a:  to collect awards at an alarming pace. The most recent award bestowed upon the Evoque came this week when it was named Car of the Year by Auto Express and topped the ‘Best Compact SUV’ category. Not too bad for a vehicle that is still several weeks away from going retail. Over the course of its inaugural year we expect this small Range Rover to acquire a substantial collection of awards.

Excitement Builds for the Evoque

Land Rover has collected over 18,000 orders for the all-new Evoque worldwide (reportedly over 5,000 of those orders are from China).

Of course, the Range Rover Evoque not being on showroom floors isn’t stopping potential owners from placing pre-orders. Land Rover has collected over 18,000 orders worldwide (reportedly over 5,000 of those orders are from China). Three major factors play into these pre-order numbers. The first is Land Rover’s all-out support for the Evoque launch. The Range Rover Evoque has enjoyed a successful marketing blitz through many channels. The second major factor is that the Evoque has been well-received by the media. The few dissenters have been those in the automotive press who questioned whether the Evoque was a “true” Range Rover. The third factor is that the Evoque opens the Range Rover brand to a spectrum of potential owners who in the past never so much as looked twice at a Land Rover.

Evoque Available in the U.S. this October

We may have spoken a little too soon by saying the Range Rover Evoque isn’t on showroom floors. It is, and we have the photos to prove it. Potential owners here in the U.S. are just now getting their first taste of the Range Rover Evoque as the company rolls out an introductory campaign at Land Rover retailers nationwide. Last we heard, the Evoque will be available for U.S. delivery in October.

If you want to learn more about the Range Rover Evoque, take a look at our exclusive 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Infographic, which covers the U.S. model. As usual, overseas markets get some additional choices when it comes to configuring their new Land Rover, including a two-wheel drive variant and a diesel-powered version of the Evoque. We’re not too sure about the idea of a two-wheel drive Range Rover, but there are many who are eager to see a diesel Land Rover here in the U.S.
