July 2011 U.S. Land Rover Sales

Jaguar Land Rover has reported U.S. sales for the month of July. Overall, sales for Jaguar Land Rover North America fell flat. However, Land Rover itself displayed an impressive sales gain over July of 2010 with a 23 percent increase. Land Rover found buyers for 2,811 units in July with the Range Rover Sport leading the sales charge at 1,160 units. Following the RRS was the Range Rover with 798 units and the LR4 with 640, which left the LR2 to round out the month.

“Despite some signs of consumer slow down in July, the Land Rover brand continued its long streak of monthly growth with particularly good results for the Range Rover Sport,” said Andy Goss, President, Jaguar Land Rover North America. “For the month total, Jaguar Land Rover North America July sales were equal to 2010, and we are up 12 percent for the year.”

Dragging down the numbers was Jaguar, where sales for the month are down 35 percent to 984 units. Total sales for the company came in at 3,795 units, a slim margin below the July 2010 numbers of 3,808 units. Year-to-date, JLR North America is up 12 percent.

As mentioned, the star of Land Rover’s show was once again the Range Rover Sport. The RRS found 1,160 buyers in July, a 46 percent increase over July of last year. The Range Rover followed with 798 units, a 28 percent increase. And the LR4 jumped 23 percent with 640 units sold. The LR2 remains at the bottom of the pack. Land Rover year-to-date sales are up 16 percent with 20,103 units sold. Despite the increase, Land Rover’s fastest growing market, China, is on the fast track to replace the U.S. as Land Rover’s second largest market.

Land Rover will see a boost in sales this fall when the Range Rover Evoque numbers start rolling in.
