November 2011 U.S. Land Rover Sales

Jaguar Land Rover has announced North American sales for the month of November. Overall, Land Rover moved 3,820 units, which is up 31 percent over November 2010 when 2,922 vehicles were sold. The Range Rover Sport continues to be the overall sales leader, with 1,522 units sold in November. This is up a remarkable 37 percent from the same month in 2010. The Range Rover itself saw its sales increase by 9 percent over last year with 711 units sold. The 2012 Range Rover Evoque came in with just 669 sales for its second month, which we thought seemed a little low given how much exposure the Evoque has received in the media. However, the Evoque certainly provided a welcome boost to the monthly sales figures through not only direct sales, but also by the significant halo effect that has surrounded the vehicle.  Finally, the Land Rover LR4 and LR2 split the remaining 918 sales between them, with the LR4 undoubtedly earning the majority of those sales.

For the year, Land Rover is up 18% at 33,356 units sold.

The Range Rover Evoque

The Range Rover Evoque went on sale in the U.S. on October 3rd after a year-long marketing campaign that made the Evoque one of the most anticipated vehicles of the 2012 model year. Given the significant build-up of the Evoque by Land Rover itself and the automotive press — this compact luxury SUV is dominating the 2011/2012 awards season — we were a little surprised that the all-new Evoque did not eclipse the Range Rover Sport as the best-selling Range Rover model during its introductory months.

Considering the 37 percent sales boost the Range Rover Sport enjoyed over November of last year, the Range Rover Evoque has served as a significant halo vehicle to bring further attention to its larger sibling and to the Land Rover and Range Rover brands in general. The Evoque has taken the Motor Trend SUV of the Year award, the BBC Top Gear Car of the Year award, and dozens of other notable accolades from around the world. All this adds up to one thing: improved sales.
