Range Rover Range_e Diesel-Hybrid

The Range Rover Range_e is scheduled to go into production for 2013 and will be Land Rover’s first production hybrid. Not only will the Range_e offer a diesel-electric hybrid powertrain that is capable of 85 miles per gallon, but it will also retain the off-road capability for which Land Rover is known.

The heart of the Range_e is the hybrid system that makes use of a 245-horsepower 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine backed by a 68kW electric motor and a 14.2kWh lithium-ion battery. Electric-only range is estimated to be just 20 miles, but combined range is said to approach 700 miles.
