2012 Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport

Unless you are one of the small number of people who purchase a new Land Rover or Range Rover with the intent of driving it indefinitely or handing it down to a family member, the topic of resale or trade-in value will often arise during the buying process. If you do plan on selling or trading in your new Land Rover in the future, you will be happy to know that Automotive Lease Guide — more commonly known as ALG — has named the 2012 Range Rover Evoque and the 2012 Range Rover Sport as Residual Value Award winners.

ALG Award Winners

The all-new 2012 Range Rover Evoque has been given the ALG Residual Value award in the “Best Luxury Compact Utility Vehicle” category. This latest entry on a growing list of accolades comes just weeks after the Evoque’s North American release. Initial worldwide demand for the Evoque has been high, with some regions selling out and others facing delivery delays. Fortunately, U.S. customers willing to buy an Evoque off the showroom floor have not run into any availability issues.

Also recognized by ALG was the 2012 Range Rover Sport. The Range Rover Sport — Land Rover’s best-selling pre-Evoque offering — took the “Best Luxury Midsize Utility Vehicle” nod. For 2012, the Range Rover Sport received minor exterior updates but enjoys significant changes to the navigation and audio systems.

About the ALG Residual Value Awards

This year’s Residual Value Awards recognize model year 2012 vehicles that will retain the highest percentage of their original purchase price after a three-year period according to ALG data. ALG examines customer demand, vehicle depreciation, competition, historical vehicle performance, industry trends, vehicle quality, production levels, pricing, and marketing strategies. This analysis is then applied to 19 vehicle categories shown above to forecast the residual values. Also noted are two brand award winners; one for luxury vehicles and the other for mainstream vehicles.
