Jaguar Land Rover North American has reported May 2012 sales. During the month, Land Rover retailers managed to find homes for 3,438 new vehicles. This represents a 19 percent increase over May of 2011 when Land Rover sold 2,891 vehicles. The slow news cycle we're in obviously did not reflect the bustle of activity on North America's showrooms.
Two years of upward momentum continues for Land Rover in April. The brand as a whole was up 10 percent over April of 2011 with 3,292 sales. This brings Land Rover's 2012 running sales total to 13,951 units. Land Rover's April sales combined with the Jaguar brand put Jaguar Land Rover up only 3 percent for the month. However, JLR is up 22 percent year-to-date.
At the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, Jaguar Land Rover announced its new Engineered To Order (ETO) division. The divisions will be "responsible for extending the Jaguar and Land Rover brands with a series of 'special edition' models as well as a range of personalization options."
Land Rover continues its upward trend in the month of March by selling 4,199 vehicles, up 22 percent from March of 2011. Not only did Land Rover see a good month, but Jaguar saw its sales increase by an impressive 51 percent over March of 2011. Also related, Land Rover stated that it is chasing the Toyota Hilux with the DC100, which is good news for brand purists.
Land Rover has enlisted the help of five photographers in what it is calling the "Five By Five" photography project to kick off its new Tumblr social media site. Land Rover selected five "socially connected" photographers and hooked them up with Land Rover vehicles, including selections from its Heritage Fleet.
