While Land Rover has maintained from day one that the DC100 is the Defender, it seems that the company may be considering positioning the DC100 not as the "utility" category Defender, but as the new entry-level "leisure" category Land Rover.
It has been known for a while that Land Rover plans to introduce a variety of vehicles based on the Range Rover Evoque. Future offerings that are on the drawing board include the Evoque Convertible concept. What you see is pretty much what you will get when (if) the Evoque Convertible goes into production.

The new Defender will be based on the Defender Concept 100 — the DC100 and DC100 Sport — vehicles that have been making the rounds during this 2011/2012 auto show season.
