Autocar.co.uk landed an exclusive interview with Tata chairman Ratan Tata that revealed some interesting bits of information about the upcoming 2015 Land Rover Defender. The new Defender will be based on the Defender Concept 100 — the DC100 and DC100 Sport — vehicles that have been making the rounds during this 2011/2012 auto show season.
In the first part of this article, we're taking a brief look at the Land Rover DC100, which will become the Defender in 2015. We're also looking at the Land Rover LRX, which became the Range Rover Evoque. In the second part of this article, we will be looking at the Land_e technologies concept and the Range Stormer, which lead up to the Range Rover Sport.
The DC100 and DC100 Sport concepts have made their Indian debut at the Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi. The vehicles remain essentially unchanged from what we saw at the LA Auto Show with the exception of a few cosmetic alterations. Both Defender Concepts shown in New Delhi are coated in Land Rover's bright Firenze Red.
Yet another January 1st is right around the corner, which means it is time to take a look at the top five Land Rover and Range Rover news stories of 2011. This year saw Land Rover introduce a new Range Rover model, introduced two new concept vehicles, broadened its global reach, and set new milestones.
While the foreign press announced this bit of news in November, it's now making the media rounds here in the U.S. that Jaguar Land Rover has opted to skip the 2012 North American International Auto Show (Detroit). Instead, the company will showcase its products at Auto Expo 2012 (New Delhi) in Tata Motors' home market of India.
