Land Rover continues its upward trend in the month of March by selling 4,199 vehicles, up 22 percent from March of 2011. Not only did Land Rover see a good month, but Jaguar saw its sales increase by an impressive 51 percent over March of 2011. Also related, Land Rover stated that it is chasing the Toyota Hilux with the DC100, which is good news for brand purists.
While Land Rover has maintained from day one that the DC100 is the Defender, it seems that the company may be considering positioning the DC100 not as the "utility" category Defender, but as the new entry-level "leisure" category Land Rover.
Land Rover is using the 2012 New York International Auto Show to help celebrate its 25th anniversary in North America. While the usual vehicles are on display, including the convertible version of the Range Rover Evoque, we were most drawn to the new DC100. The vehicle now sports its most expeditionary look yet.
While prepping for the Geneva Motor Show, Land Rover took the opportunity to show off a Firenze Red Defender Concept 100 outfitted with snow and ice accessories. Accessories shown in the photos include snow tires and a roof/ski rack. Additionally, under the skin of the DC100 hardtop are several technological features that aid drivers traversing the white stuff.
There's a little something for everybody at Land Rover's Geneva Motor Show display. Land Rover took the opportunity to show off its new Range Rover Evoque Convertible concept, a Firenze Red Defender Concept 100 (DC100), and the 1,000,000th Discovery complete with a bit of road dust.
