2011 Land Rover Range Rover Detail

The results of the J.D. Power and Associates 2011 Automotive Performance Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study were released today. Jaguar and Land Rover ranked among the top five brands, with Jaguar coming in 2nd and Land Rover coming in 4th. 2011 marks the fourth year in a row for Jaguar taking the number two spot (with a score of 857 out of 1000).  Land Rover moves up one notch from 5th place last year and marks the fourth consecutive year in which Land Rover has improved its rank (with a score of 841 for 2011).

“We are extremely proud that our vehicles continue to excel in the esteemed J.D. Power APEAL study,” says Andy Goss, President of Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC. “The fact that both Jaguar and Land Rover brands rank highly in these important rankings underscores that we are a premium automotive company with two luxury brands that excel in providing our customers with quality vehicles that deliver extraordinary performance, innovative technology, and superior styling.”

The APEAL study is based on feedback gathered from more than 73,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2011 model year cars and trucks who were surveyed after the first 90 days of ownership. The study was conducted between February 2011 and May 2011 and ranks 32 brands based on more than 80 vehicle attributes. The purpose of the study is to determine how gratifying a new vehicle is to own and drive and is a companion study to the J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study (IQS), which focuses on problems experienced by owners during the first 90 days of ownership.

While many factors go into the ranking methodology (as mentioned above), J.D. Power also boils down its studies into “Power Circle Ratings.” The Land Rover brand scored four “Power Circles” out of five in all categories except Comfort, where it secured all five circles. Categories include:

  • Overall Performance and Design
  • Performance
  • Comfort
  • Features and Instrument Panel
  • Style

Additionally, the 2011 Range Rover was the highest ranked vehicle in the Large Premium Crossover/SUV class with a score of 856, and received high scores in vehicle interior, vehicle exterior, driving dynamics and visibility and driving safety categories.
