If you recall, we originally wrote about Land Rover’s ‘Go Beyond’ 2012 Bursary back in November and once again in January. Land Rover’s annual bursary is operated in conjunction with the Royal Geographic Society (with the Institute of British Geographers, IBG) and is designed to support expeditions that feature strong elements of geographical and cultural education.
Previous winners have included an expedition to research a previously inaccessible glacier in Iceland, exploring the lives of people who live along fault lines, tracing potential ocean coastlines that could develop with rising sea levels, and an expedition that followed 50° North latitude. This year, the theme of the 2012 ‘Go Beyond’ Bursary was “[taking] a journey beyond [the team's] limits and boundaries.” Hence, ‘Go Beyond.’
‘Pushing the Limits’ will be led by Andy Campbell, a self-styled disabled adventurer.
This year’s winner is a team that will support Andy Campbell’s efforts to “encourage our understanding of geography on our doorstep and to show that exploration is within everyone’s reach, whatever their ability.” Campbell (37) was paralyzed during a climbing accident in 2004 and will be leading the ‘Pushing the Limits’ expedition. Other team member include Steve Locke, a media studies graduate, and Adrian Taylor, an adventure traveler.
The ‘Pushing the Limits’ expedition will chart a route that leads the team through the UK, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Romania. They’ll be undertaking the trip in a Land Rover Defender 110 with a £30,000.00 ($46,500.00) bursary to fund the geographical journey.
You can follow ‘Pushing the Limits’ on Twitter and Facebook.

Andy Campbell will be leading the ‘Pushing the Limits’ expedition. Along the way, the self-styled disabled adventurer will drive, paraglide, kayak, handcycle, and use an off-road wheelchair to explore the landscape en route to the Black Sea.

Today we're taking a look at the 2012 Defender by Overfinch, which has received enhancements both inside and out. Right off the top, we'll once again say we're not fans of non-OEM hood lettering, but the overall look of the Overfinch Defender comes together nicely. Also on display are Overfinch's Apollo line of five-spoke alloy wheels, which are available in four finishes.
