2012 Range Rover Evoque Fuel Indicator

Land Rover’s rugged and upright design character might cut a handsome profile, but it also makes for some rather blunt aerodynamics. Couple this with well-powered V8 engines and high curb weights, and you have a recipe for fuel economy numbers that make oil executives weep with joy. All-in-all, low fuel economy ratings are one part of Land Rover’s heritage that we are glad to see quickly fading away. We’re seeing it happen right now with the all-new 2012 Evoque.

With the Range Rover Evoque, Land Rover has managed to coax respectable — albeit not spectacular — MPG numbers out its 240-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Additionally, Land Rover’s diesel and hybrid initiatives will hopefully be reaching U.S. shores within the foreseeable future. Diesel engines alone would dramatically increase fuel economy averages for U.S. buyers. The Evoque’s diesel variants now available in the UK can achieve fuel economy numbers somewhere around the 44 MPG mark when backed by a manual transmission.

All MPG data shown below is for current model year U.S.-spec vehicles as EPA-rated or estimated. Horsepower and torque ratings are manufacturer specifications.
